Databrain Remote · Research at a distance
A neuromarketing
laboratory
on any webcam.
Gaze, facial emotion and implicit response, captured while your participant watches the stimulus from home. Without bringing anyone into a lab.
Explore a study from the inside.
Two commercials in front of their audience’s webcams. See where eyes landed, which emotion showed up each second and which words were associated, exactly as the platform shows it.
A few minutes in front of their own camera.
They get a link, open it in their computer’s browser and that’s it. Nothing to install.
- ConsentThey agree to take part and know what is recorded. No video or audio is saved.
- Camera checkFace, distance and lighting are checked before starting.
- CalibrationThey follow nine points with their eyes, plus three more that validate accuracy.
- StimulusThey watch the images or videos in the order you set, fixed or random.
- YES or NO wordsThey answer up to seven timed words, with a control question that filters out random answers.
What your audience sees, feels and associates.
Every study delivers six readings, all on the same timeline as the stimulus.
Heatmap
The group’s gaze, drawn over every second of the video or over the image. Low-quality sessions are left out, and the report says how many.
Areas of interest
Mark the logo, the price or a face and measure who looked at it, for how long and how quickly they found it.
Facial emotion
Seven basic expressions, read twice per second, with the group average and its margin of error.
Implicit association
Timed YES or NO words. Speed separates the automatic reaction from the deliberate opinion.
A/B testing with statistics
Pit two versions against each other with a paired t-test, multiple-comparison correction and effect size. Segment by sex and age.
AI interpretation
A reading of the results ready to share, plus the PDF report and the data in CSV.
You set up the study
Decide before you spend.
Choose between two versions
Two commercials, two key visuals or two endings. The A/B test tells you whether the gap is real or chance.
Pretest a spot before airing
Find the second where attention drops or rejection appears, and fix it before buying media.
Packaging and print
Check whether the product, the brand and the price get seen, and in what order.
Several countries, one study
The same study with links in three languages to compare markets with a single method.
Works with your panel.
Paste the study link into your recruitment panel. Remote receives each participant’s ID and, when they finish, sends them back to the panel so their participation is credited.
and any panel that passes the ID in the link.
- One-click setup. Pick your panel and the entry link and return URLs are built for you.
- No repeat participants. An ID that already completed can’t enter again.
- Quota under control. Once the completes you asked for are reached, the study closes on its own, with no extra charges.
- 1Link with the IDThe panel sends each person with their identifier.
- 2Webcam sessionThe ID stays with their data in the report and the raw data.
- 3Back to the panelComplete, screened out or quota full: each case returns to its URL.
What a webcam measures. And what it doesn’t.
Remote shows gaze and emotion trends with large audiences at low cost. Knowing where its accuracy ends is part of the method.
Measures well
- Where the eyes go: attention zones and gaze path, on images or video.
- Facial expression: seven basic emotions throughout the stimulus.
- Implicit associations: which words connect with the brand without thinking.
- Differences between versions: with statistical significance and effect size.
Does not replace
- A lab eye tracker: a webcam cannot resolve fine fixations or small text.
- Physiological signals: EEG, GSR and pulse require sensors.
- Gaze on a phone: the front camera is not comparable, so those sessions stay out of the heatmap.
- Sample size: no measurement makes up for a small sample; the report flags it and declares no winner.
Need that precision? Neurolab measures with lab-grade eye tracking, EEG, GSR and pulse.

What people usually ask.
Does the participant need to install anything?
No. They open the link in the browser of a computer with a webcam and follow the on-screen steps. It takes a few minutes.
Is the participant’s face recorded?
No. Remote records no video or audio. The camera image is processed in the browser, and only gaze coordinates and expression readings are saved.
Does it work on a phone?
The participant can take part, but their gaze stays out of the heatmap: a phone’s front camera is not comparable to a webcam. To measure gaze, a computer is best.
How many participants do I need?
Statistics run from three participants, but with samples that small, differences are rarely conclusive. To compare two versions, aim for dozens of people. The report always flags when a result is exploratory.
Who recruits the participants?
You share the link with your audience, panel or customers. If you’d rather we handle it, the full-service option includes recruitment.
Who pays the panel?
You do. You hire the panel with your own account and pay it directly for each participant. Databrain doesn’t handle that payment: completes only count toward the participants in your plan. With the full-service option, recruitment is included in the quote.
What if I need more participants?
You can move to a plan with more participants per month at any time. Business has no limit.
